The Chronicle of ChitraVithi
A World of Art & Digital Creations • Bridging rural grassroots artisans of Bihar with art connoisseurs and modern spaces around the globe.
From Village Mud Walls to Global Canvases
Madhubani (literally "Forest of Honey") art is one of the oldest living folk art traditions in the world, originating in the Mithila region during the ancient epic era of King Janaka and Sita.
Traditionally painted by village women using bamboo sticks, matchsticks, and their own fingers on freshly plastered mud walls, each piece was a prayer for peace, harvest, and family harmony. ChitraVithi was born in the heartland of Madhubani with a commitment to protect this heritage from mass-produced digital prints and machine counterfeits.
